About Us

Hi, I'm Katja, the illustrator, maker, packer, photographer, customer service department, and post office runner behind the one-woman business that is The Illustrationist.

What started with a love for drawing has grown into a little creative world filled with jewellery, enamel pins, illustrations, stickers, art, and other trinkets and treasures. Every item you find in this shop has been designed by me, and most are handmade right here in my Haarlem atelier. Since every piece is made by hand they all have their uniqueness and slight differences. 

After placing an order it will be packed with care, wrapped by hand, and shipped from Haarlem. There are no warehouses, no big production teams, and no assembly lines, just me, a workbench full of tools, a cup of forgotten coffee or tea somewhere, and a lot of love for creating. 

I'm endlessly inspired by nature vs geometry, art, music and the details all around that often go unnoticed. I love making pieces that tell a story, or simply bring a smile to your face. Whether it's a tiny pin for you to wear on a coat or cardigan, a pair of earrings that’ll dangle alongside you, or an illustration that finds a place on your wall (even if it’s in the toilet), I hope each piece brings a little shine to your life.
