Bad word-pun, couldn’t resist. Probably I’m not the first either. Anyway, on to business, creating a webshop almost from scratch has made me look around the internet some more. What do webshops look like? What do good webshops look like? What do I want a webshop to look like?

This quest has send me on a deep dive into jewellery web stores, and I noticed that there’s a lot of them. Obviously. But to find a truly nice one, where the jewellery resonates with you and is really handmade, is a far less occurring happening. That’s why I thought it’s nice to share some of my finds, a little blog on nice pieces and makers. Where small Dutch brands create original jewellery pieces by hand, preferably in gold and silver, as that takes my fancy mostly.

I love het combination of gold and green, on the frontpage, something I can fall for time and time again. Iris creates minimalist, original jewellery, that’s clearly not mass produced, instead her hand shows throughout and she’s a jewellery maker worth looking at.

Also a female jewellery maker, making lovely minimalist pieces in gold. She seems to work mostl by appointment to create custom pieces to your wishes.

The photo’s on this webshop immediately jumped out for me. Bold and colourful. Like with my own brand, the illustrationist, here Ellen and Lotte, the creators at Oogst also seem to be inspired by both natural elements and geometry. Clicking on one of the categories will take you to an absolute abundance of jewellery on offer.

A more rough and bold estatic can be found in the shop of Stefanie Verhoef, in het shop https://www.stefanieverhoef.com/. Her pieces are contemporary and almost architectural in nature. Definitely some very original handmade jewellery pieces!

Continuing the architectural route, both https://juliaduff.nl/ and https://monocrafft.com have a wide range of contemporary, more architectural pieces. Where monocrafft is a bit more dainty, Julia Duff has real heavy statement pieces. All depending on your personal preference and style. But both lovingly made by hand in the Netherlands.
